A carer (parents, grandparents, relative, friend) supports the child in the pool, providing a special bonding opportunity. Together they will learn to explore, build confidence, and enjoy the water; tailored activities will work towards supporting their individual development. Infants will learn to control breathing, floating, paddling and propulsion.
Children grow in confidence and become more independent in the water. Parents are gradually transitioned out of the pool and children start to participate on their own. Children start to learn swimming strokes.
With an increase in confidence, strength and endurance, children establish a lifelong appreciation for safer activity in the water. The school aged program focuses on refinement of swimming stroke techniques, safety and survival skills, and respect for the water.
It is never too late to learn to swim! Beginner and intermediate adult classes are available. Adult classes cater for all abilities and backgrounds.
Beginner adult swimming lessons are held in our indoor 20-metre pool focusing on kicking, breathing and comfort in the water, with an introduction to basic freestyle and backstroke. Our Intermediate level, held in our outdoor heated 50-metre pool, has an emphasis on learning further stroke technique, breathing efficiency and deep water skills.
*Please refer to our Group Fitness timetable for our advance Stroke Correction classes and Adult Squad Program.
